- Fakie. (Meaning backwards, or faking one direction and then going another).
- Backside. (Also means backwards. Sometimes used interchangeably with Fakie).
- "You've stuck the landing." (The jump landed, but barely).
- "I popped the jump." (The take-off for the jump wasn't timed correctly and has therefore prevented the skater from properly rotating in the air).
- "I forgot to level my shoulders." (Removing the tilt from your shoulders).
- Supporting foot (The foot that's on the ice).
- Swinging foot or swinging leg. (A lot of tricks having a swinging leg, such as Roundhouse kicks, Crescent Kicks, and the Spin Alley-oop).
- "You've missed the rotation." (When a jump fails to complete a certain amount of rotation in the air).
- "Don't rush the take-off." (This implies the skater didn't focus on the initial part of the trick and therefore has caused the rest of the trick to falter).
- "Don't forget to lead with your shoulders." (Making sure your shoulders are level during take-off of a jump. Helps to straighten-out a jump).
- Edge jump. (Any jump that converts forward & downward momentum or energy into vertical leap).
- "Dude, that was a solid take-off." (A well performed take-off to a jump, hop, or aerial trick).
- "That was a solid landing." (Implies an excellent landing to a trick - - usually a jump).
- "You missed the take-off." (Waited too long before jumping).
- Inside edge (The edge facing the inside of your foot)
- Outside edge (The edge facing the outside of your foot)
- "We're goin' Vert this session." (In reference to ramps or skatepark bowls, meaning "skating on a vertical ramp").
- "I was tearin' up the ice today" (Meaning: you skated hard and fast).
- Open-hip jump. (Open-hip jumps don't have an immediate aerial axis (you have to find the axis in the air) - - which is why they are harder than closed-hip jumps).
- Closed-hip jump. (These have an immediate aerial axis because the rotation occurs automatically. FrontSide and Forward jumps are closed-hip jumps. AirFlow's and Fakies' are not).
- This trick needs to follow a certain flow, or it won't work." (Requires specific timing and triggering of certain muscle groups to work, such as the "Xtreme Figure-8").
