Beginner level-1:
Hawk Turn:
Guidelines:
- • The lower hand must touch the ice.
Tuck Stop:
Guidelines:
- • Lifted skate boot may not be raised beyond top of other boot.
Guidelines:
- • Both skate boots much touch to conform to eachother.
- • Notice how lifted skate boot follows the contour of the other leg and skate boot.
Guidelines:
- • Your back and head must follow a relatively straight line.
- • Torso is slightly forward.
- • Your head may not face down.
Guidelines:
- • You must have a fair amount of space between your knees - approximately two fists distance. Just make sure your knees aren't together.
Guidelines:
- • Angle of knee bend must be a minimum of approximately 25°-30° degrees.
- • Simply stated: you must have some decent knee bend.
One Footed Stop:
Guidelines:
- • Raised foot must touch other knee or leg.
- • Raised foot may not touch the lower part of your leg.
Guidelines:
- • Raised foot is not forward of the knee, nor is it to the back of the knee.
- • Basically, if your foot looks like it's sticking way out, it is failing.
Guidelines:
- • Your back and head must follow a relatively straight line.
- • Torso is slightly forward.
- • Your back & head may not lean forward as depicted below.
Heel Stop:
Guidelines:
- • Heel must touch the ice throughout the entire stop. Some heel chatter is allowed.
Guidelines:
- • Torso is straight, with a slight forward lean, or erect posture.
